妙峰法师（1928-2019）为广东湛江人。7岁于广东上林寺出家，先后亲近虚云、海仁、太虚等大德。1949年抵台湾，拜入慈航大师门下，并被选为法子，继承慈公禅门曹洞法统四十八代传人，随后又亲近佛学泰斗印顺导师，深得大师法旨。1962年被政府选派去美国弘法，是早期到美国弘法的中国比丘。隔年在纽约市创办了中华佛教会，先后成立了法王寺、松林寺及慈航精舍。1996年春在新竹成立慈航佛学社，与科学园区附近学佛人士广结法缘。法师不但精于教法禅理，尤擅禅诗书法。为弘法所写之文字，已彙集成册付印流通者有《慈风文集》、《八大人觉经十四讲》、《慈风书法诗集》、《般若心经的思想及其哲学》、《禅地风光》（六集）、《裴休丞相送子出家故事》等。本书为妙峰法师传记，阐述一个有志青年在动乱艰难的时代中勇往直前，其一生对佛教的贡献与成就。
