Bomb Hunters: In Afghanistan With Britain’s Elite Bomb Disposal Unit

Afghanistan is just like Iraq – hot, dusty and full of people who want to kill you. SSgt Simon Fuller, Royal Engineer Search Advisor, tells the story of Britain’s elite bomb disposal experts, who face death every day in Helmand Province, Afghanistan. Bomb Hunters combat the deadly IEDs planted by the Taliban, which are hard to detect and easy to trigger. An estimated 10 bombs for every one of the 10,000 British troops have been planted in the region. IEDs are now the main cause of British casualties and a psychological weapon. Working in 50-degree heat, they take the 'long walk' into dangerous zones, defusing up to 15 bombs daily. The casualty rate has increased as troops play a deadly game of cat and mouse. Ex-paratrooper and defense journalist Sean Rayment interviews these brave soldiers, offering vivid insights into their lives and their courage in confronting deadly threats.
