Free And Open Indo-Pacific Strategy Outlook

The United States launched a new Free and Open Indo-Pacific (FOIP) strategy in late 2017 to counter China's revisionist tactics and promote a rules-based order in the region. The strategy involves engaging like-minded nations through economic, security, and political partnerships to create a flexible and scalable network of relations in the Indo-Pacific. The US plays a leading role, working with various partners to meet regional needs, with the rules-based order functioning as the operating system of this network, providing collective benefits. FOIP is more akin to a club generating benefits for its members rather than Cold War bloc politics. As it's still in its early stages but has established elements and significant resources, its long-term prospects for sustainability and success are promising.
