In his second children’s novel, Ken Kwek explores themes of academic pressure and technology overload with humor. The story follows Kelly Mao, who faces threats of grounding from her tiger mum, a hectic tuition schedule, and suspicions about her twin brother's activities. As PSLE approaches, Kelly secretly joins a dance crew called the Krumps and becomes involved in her brother’s troubles with an evil genius named Fang Boy. Ken Kwek is a screenwriter, film director, and playwright with a background in literature from Cambridge and dramatic writing from NYU. He has also worked as a journalist and a cook, and authored two books, Kelly and the Krumps and Timothy and the Phubbers. Lolita Chiong, an illustrator who graduated from Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, illustrated the books. She enjoys drawing cartoons, pixel art, and comics, and spends her free time drawing birds at the bird park, catching prawns at prawning pools, and eating spicy mala hotpot.
