Cerita Rakyat Mah Meri: Kisah Haiwan ialah sebuah himpunan tujuh kisah yang menampilkan berbagai cerita haiwan yang menghiburkan, memberikan gambaran tentang persekitaran dan kehidupan masyarakat Mah Meri. Mah Meri adalah salah satu daripada 19 kelompok Orang Asli yang mendiami Semenanjung Malaysia, dengan budaya dan bahasa yang unik. Mereka adalah kaum pesisir yang tinggal di sepanjang pantai di Selangor, dari Sungai Pelek hingga ke Pulau Carey dan Pulau Ketam. Mah Meri, yang bermakna ‘orang dari hutan’, sering dirujuk dalam literatur lama sebagai Hma’ Besisi, yakni ‘orang bersisik’, tetapi mereka sendiri lebih suka menggunakan istilah Hma’ Heh yang bermakna ‘orang kita’. Dengan ketiadaan bahasa bertulis, cerita rakyat menjadi cara utama untuk mewariskan kearifan, budaya, adat, tradisi, dan sejarah mereka dari generasi ke generasi.
