Buku ini merupakan hasil penelitian yang dibiayai oleh BOPTN LP2M UIN Sunan Gunung Djati Bandung tahun 2023. Di dalamnya dijelaskan tentang anekdot Haji Hasan Mustapa (1852-1930). Seorang bujangga Sunda yang pernah menjabat sebagai Hoofd Penghulu Aceh dan Bandung. Anekdot HHM yang dikaji dalam buku ini bersumber dari tiga buku kumpulan anekdotnya, yaitu Boekoe Singa-Bandoeng (1930), Boekoe Dongeng jeung Sadjarah (1932) dan Haji Hasan Mustapa jeung Karya-karyana (1989). Buku hasil penelitian ini berusaha memetakan semua data lengkap anekdot HHM tersebut dan menganalisisnya dengan menggunakan pendekatan teori humor, sehingga hasilnya dapat diketahui sebaran kategori anekdot HHM dan kategori humor apa yang dominan. Untuk diketahui, sebagian kecil bagian dari buku ini sebelumnya sudah dipublikasikan dalam Jurnal Al-A’raf Vol. 19, No. 2, 2022: 259-289 dengan judul “To Joke about God”: Anecdotes of Haji Hasan Mustapa.
