Mobile Planet: Connecting The World

In September 1987, a group of European telecoms operators gathered in Copenhagen to sign a document that paved the way for global mobile. This Memorandum of Understanding led to a common mobile standard, giving us international roaming, lower cost handsets and tariffs, and more. It changed forever the way we communicate, affecting our lives regardless of location or background. Mobile technology has permeated all aspects of life. To showcase this, the GSM Association partnered with TelecomTV to produce a documentary and photographic book documenting diverse mobile uses worldwide. Covering twenty countries with interviews, footage, and photographs, the book features country profiles, case studies, and a history of mobile evolution from GSM to 3G. The package includes a documentary on PAL DVD and a second DVD with interviews and features.
