Reflections Of An English Muslim

Born in the twilight of Empire, experiencing the chaos of the sixties and finding his peace in Islam, Ahmed Keeler reflects upon his journey and calls for a re-evaluation of our past. Whilst scientific progress, technological development and economic growth have long been the criteria by which the success of a civilisation has been judged, in his Reflections, Keeler proposes that the true yardstick for measuring success should be the balance achieved between the spiritual, social and material needs of humanity; a balance which makes it possible to live in harmony with nature. When the world is viewed from this perspective, the failure of modernism becomes evident and the historical achievement of Islam is revealed. Ahmed Keeler was a Visiting Fellow at the Centre of Islamic Studies, University of Cambridge, and a Distinguished Fellow at The Faculty of Leadership and Management, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia.
