Stand Alone

A thought-provoking anthology that explores issues challenging Singaporeans, such as identity, emigration, education, cultural differences, class divisions, heritage, and individualism. The collection has received recognition, including being shortlisted for the Commonwealth Writers’ Prize and highly commended in the National Book Development Council Book Awards. The story ‘My Cousin Tim’ was selected for READ!Singapore. The author, Simon Tay Seong Chee, is a Singaporean legal academic and former Nominated Member of Parliament, also known as a poet and author. His works include the non-fiction book Asia Alone: The Dangerous Post-Crisis Divide from America, reviewed by The Economist and The Financial Times, and the novel City of Small Blessings, which won the 2010 Singapore Literature Prize. His collection of short stories, Stand Alone, was awarded the Highly Commended prize from the National Book Development Council of Singapore Awards.
