This is the English-language edition of The Last Eunuch of China, which tells the life story of Sun Yaoting, the last eunuch of China. Sun Yaoting (1902-1996) served members of the imperial family and followed Puyi, the last emperor of China, through the final years of the Qing Dynasty and the puppet state of Manchukuo. The author, Jia Yinghua, a Beijing native and friend of Sun Yaoting, was allowed to record Sun’s stories through tape and video recordings. Jia had previously published Chinese and Japanese editions of this biography and has written multiple books about the Chinese royal family. The book aims to provide insight into Chinese history through the personal experiences of Sun Yaoting.
